There are many causes for hip pain, but the most common condition is arthritis or just wear and tear.
The smooth cartilage cap of the hip joint allows pain free and smooth motion. As we age, this cartilage cap begins to wear out, some faster than others, depending on genetics, weight, lifestyle and various activities including the types sports one participates in. As a result, you get decreased range of motion, stiffness, pain and development of arthritis.
A lot of time hip pain from arthritis is localized to the medial region including the groin and the medial thigh. The sooner you catch your arthritis, the faster you may be able to treat it and delay its progression and avoid hip replacement surgery. This is especially important if you are young and active. In our office, we are able to effectively treat and slow down most cases of arthritis with our various treatments which including our regenerative treatment which includes PRP treatments and amniofix.
In addition, for advanced cases of hip arthritis that need surgery, we get referrals form the primary care doctors and the orthopedic surgeons to perform cortisone injections, just to provide the patients fast and effective pain relief until they are ready or able to have joint replacement surgery.
We are one of the few clinics that is properly trained and can accurately (100% precision) perform these injections under ultrasound guidance. The procedure takes less than 15 minutes and you can actually see the medication entering into your hip joint and providing pain relief in real time. Also, unlike x-ray or fluoroscopy, there is no radiation involved when we do it with ultrasound guidance.
Please let us know if you have any further questions regarding our advanced ultrasound guided procedures.
