Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Therapy
Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) is a regenerative medicine treatment that harvests stem cells derived from your own bone marrow. Bone Marrow derived stem cells combined with their associated cytokines and growth factors have been shown to produce both bone and soft tissue healing and decrease pain and symptoms related to orthopedic injuries, osteoarthritis, tendonitis and cartilage injuries.
How is the procedure performed?
Bone marrow can be easily aspirated with a small needle through the posterior pelvis (specifically the iliac crest). It is then placed in a special processing unit, which will help concentrate the body’s stem cells and growth factors. Thereafter, it is injected into the effected joint or tendon (knee, hip, shoulder, etc.) BMAC Stems Cell devices are FDA approved and have been used safely in many surgical procedures.
Who is a good Candidate for BMAC?
BMAC provides an alternative treatment for patients who have failed conservative treatment and do not want to undergo surgery or are not a good candidate for surgery. It is generally used in more advanced cases of osteoarthritis where other treatments have not been effective.
